Patrol Division
The Patrol Division is the most visible division in the department. Led by Deputy Chief Collin Whitesell, the officers in the Patrol Division respond to calls for service, conduct traffic stops, investigate suspicious activity, investigate traffic crashes, and other duties as required.
The Patrol Division is divided into four 12-hour shifts that provide around the clock coverage for the City of Noblesville. The Noblesville Police Department currently divides the city into three different patrol districts. Each shift is required to have at least one officer in each area in order to enhance our response time. Each shift is commanded by a Lieutenant and two Sergeants. There are also five K-9 teams assigned to the Patrol Division which greatly enhances our ability to locate and apprehend criminals and to detect illegal drugs.
Officers assigned to the Patrol Division may specialize in areas such as drug recognition, crash reconstruction, field evidence tech, child safety seat restraint, field training, and more.
The Patrol Division is also supported by two Community Service Officers. These civilian officers assist citizens and visitors with disabled vehicles, parking issues outside the central business district, animal complaints, vehicle lockouts, VIN checks, traffic direction, accident investigations, and other areas of traffic disruption. Community Service Officer Manny Arriaga can be reached at (317) 776-6340 or by e-mail at [email protected].
The Patrol Division uses a number of different ways to provide service within the city. The most common is vehicular patrol. The division uses fully-marked, semi-marked, and unmarked patrol vehicles in order to meet the different demands of its various duties. The division also emphasizes and encourages officers to utilize foot patrol as an effective means to deter and fight crime. The Bicycle Patrol unit is also used quite regularly throughout the year for regular patrol duties and for special events. The Noblesville Police Department also responds to incidents on Morse Reservoir using the Boat Patrol Unit as well. During the summer months, regular patrols are assigned to the reservoir.
District Policing Program
The Patrol Division's District Policing Program divides the city into 8 districts and assigns an officer from each shift one of those districts. Each district is a neighborhood or group of neighborhoods. Residents are encouraged to contact the officer assigned to their neighborhood by e-mail. Depending on their work schedule, officers should respond within a couple of days. If you have an emergency, please call 9-1-1. If you need a police response that's not an emergency, our non-emergency phone number is (317) 773-1300. If you have a general question or ongoing problem that could be solved by the district officer, please follow this link and e-mail your district officer.
