Volunteer Police Chaplain Program
The Noblesville Police Department supports a Volunteer Chaplain Program. The Chaplain Program is staffed by local ministers who have volunteered to serve with the department. Volunteers should have an interest in working in the law enforcement field and be willing to attend Department Chaplaincy Training. Chaplains are permitted and encouraged to participate in agency training sessions, exercises, and ride with on-duty personnel. Currently, Sgt Brice Swart oversees the Chaplain Program. The goal of the Volunteer Police Chaplain Program is to provide the department with qualified law enforcement chaplains to assist with the following:

Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through a call out volunteer paging system.

Provide comfort to victims and their families involved in serious accidents or natural disasters.

Assist in the delivery of death notifications to the public and assist in the delivery of notifications when a department member is involved.

Make referrals to counselors for people in need of services.

Provide counseling to any family in a crisis situation

Contact the family clergy or minister representing the faith of the family in situations where the need arises.

Counsel persons considering suicide and families of those who have committed suicide.

Consistent with their position, a Police Chaplain may represent the agency in ceremonial functions, funerals and memorial services, religious and civil ceremonies.

Act as agency liaison with the local Ministerial Association.

Visit employees who are seriously injured or ill.

Initiate programs, which are beneficial to spouses and families in dealing with the stress of the employee's profession, family matters, personal crisis, etc.

Assist and provide emotional support to the families of retired members when death or injury occurs in the family.
