2024 Seasonal City Services

2024 City Seasonal Services

The City of Noblesville takes pride as the only city in Hamilton County to routinely offer all of the following services. We’re leading the way towards innovative methods of making our community a better place to live.  Working together to protect our environment for both present and future generations is an important goal!

TRASH/RECYCLING COLLECTION PROGRAM

  • On residents’ regular collection day, up to two 96-gallon Republic Service carts of bagged trash can be put out in their usual collection spot (curb or alley). The recycle cart filled with recyclables will be picked up bi-weekly. Please contact Republic Services at www.indywaste.com or (317) 567-6400 to verify which week the recyclables are collected in your area.
  • Please remember all NON-recyclables must be bagged before being placed in your trash cart. Recyclables should not be bagged before being placed in your cart. Recyclables include: Plastic bottles and jugs, glass bottles and jars, aluminum and metal cans, newspapers, magazines, cardboard, cereal boxes, and soft drink cartons.
  • The city contract with Republic Services allows for up to three containers, including recycle.
  • If residents occasionally have more waste for disposal, they can purchase overage bags for $1.00 each (cash/check) at the Street Department. Overage bags cannot weigh more than 40lbs.
  • If a resident has a large item pickup, please contact Republic Services at 317-567-6400, 48 hours in advance of their pick-up day. There will be a nominal fee charged directly to the resident by Republic Services. If a resident has an item containing freon, they may choose to contact Appliance Recyclers at 1-800-487-1010.
  • Grass clippings can be bagged and placed in your regular trash bin. The Street Department DOES NOT collect grass clippings.
  • No construction materials will be picked up by Republic Services.

The Hamilton County Household Hazardous Waste Center (1717 Pleasant Street) provides a drop off location Tuesdays through Fridays, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. for all recyclables including paperboard, cardboard, phone books, and magazines.

REPUBLIC HOLIDAY SCHEDULE

  • Republic Services of Indiana will observe the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. All service will be delayed one day. (Example: Labor Day is on Monday, Monday’s trash pickup will be Tuesday; Tuesday’s will be Wednesday, Wednesday’s will be Thursday, Thursday’s will be on Friday & Friday’s will be collected on Saturday.)

MOSQUITO CONTROL

  • Street Department crews treat bodies of water for mosquitoes with larvicide. Eliminating mosquito breeding areas is an extremely effective option for reducing mosquito populations without resorting to insecticides.
  • Since many mosquitoes breed in standing water, source reduction can be as simple as emptying water from containers around the home. This is something that homeowners can accomplish. For example: homeowners can eliminate mosquito breeding grounds by removing unused plastic pools, old tires, or buckets; by cleaning clogged gutters and repairing leaks around faucets; by regularly changing water in bird baths; and by filling or draining puddles, swampy areas, and tree stumps. Eliminating such mosquito breeding areas can be extremely effective.

BRUSH PICK UP - MARCH 4, 2024 THROUGH OCTOBER 4, 2024

  • Pick up is on the same day as resident’s trash collection. Brush pickup is conducted by the Street Department; therefore, it is not picked up at the same time as your trash, just the same day.
  • Brush is not collected in the alleys. Do not put brush in the street. Brush should be placed in the right-of-way (the space between the street and the sidewalk).
  • All brush must be stacked in small piles, preferably no more than 4’ in length and 18” in diameter. If the resident’s brush pile exceeds the above stated size, please contact the Street Department at 317-776-6348 to request a large brush pick-up. Large brush piles can result in a delay in collection.
  • Between October 4, 2024 and March 3, 2025, all brush collection will require the resident to call the Street Department at 317-776-6348 to request a brush pick-up.

 BAGGED LEAF PICK UP – OCTOBER 7, 2024 THROUGH DECEMBER 6, 2024

  • Bags should be placed in the right-of-way (space between the street and the sidewalk). Bagged leaves are not picked up in the alley.
  • Bagged leaves are the quickest method of leaf pick up. Weekly pick up is on the same day as resident’s trash collection. Bagged leaf pickup is conducted by the Street Department; therefore, it is not picked up at the same time as your trash, just the same day.
  • Please separate leaf bags from trash containers.
  • Bagged leaves must be in the compostable bags provided by the city at no charge to Noblesville residents and can be picked up at any of the fire stations, City Hall, Parks Department, or Street Department.
  • Residents may put out as many bags as necessary. Bagged leaves must weigh no more than 40 lbs.

LOOSE LEAF PICK UP - OCTOBER 7, 2024 THROUGH DECEMBER 6, 2024

  • Loose leaves may be raked as close to the edge of the street as possible without placing leaves in the street. Loose leaves are not picked up in the alley.
  • Be sure that leaves are free of any other debris, including brush.
  • Street crews will make a continuous circuit of the city with the leaf vacuums starting Monday, October 7th. Please keep in mind that, on average, it takes approximately 4 weeks to make a complete circuit of the city.
  • After Friday, December 6th, we will continue to pick up loose leaves when weather and time allow. Residents are strongly encouraged to bag leaves after Friday, December 6th to ensure collection.

Please note that the Street Department does not accept drop offs for any materials.

Brush and leaf collection schedules may be interrupted in the event of severe weather.

CHRISTMAS TREE COLLECTION

  • Republic Services will collect Christmas trees between December 26th, 2024 and January 10th, 2025.
  • Christmas trees must be cut up and placed in your regular trash bin and collected on your trash service day.
  • Any questions regarding tree collection should be directed to Republic Services at 317-567-6400.

SNOW REMOVAL

  • City of Noblesville Street Department crews work in 12-hour shifts, 7 days a week, using as many as 30 snow plows, 18 salt spreaders, and 6 brine application trucks, when necessary. Written guidelines are initially used for snow/ice removal for the intent of emergency vehicles to access entry into city housing sub-divisions.
  • As a storm increases in length and severity, the proportion of roads that crews can effectively service decreases. Guidelines list priority streets based on traffic volume and necessity to move emergency traffic through that area.
